Kant három híres "kritikája" közül a második A gyakorlati ész kritikájá-nak második kiadása. Először 1788-ban jelent meg, szintén Rigában. Minden jel szerint Kant semmilyen formában nem működött közre az irat új kiadásaiban. Ennek a kiadásnak már az 1790-es húsvéti vásárra el kellett volna készülnie; ténylegesen azonban csak az 1792-es évszámmal jelent meg. Ezt a másodikat 1797-ben nem a harmadik, hanem a negyedik követte; egy harmadiknak eddig semmi nyomát nem találták. Feltételezhető, hogy a kiadó a ténylegesen harmadik kiadást jelöltette negyediknek, miután a másodikat (X 71 szerint) egyből 2000 (a szokásos 1000 helyett) példányban nyomtatták ki. Kant ennél a kiadásnál sem működött közre. Egy ötödik kiadás 1818-ban, egy hatodik pedig 1827-ben jelent meg. Utánnyomások 1791-ben és 1795-ben Frankfurtban és Lipcsében, 1796-ban pedig Grätzben jelentek meg.

This is the second edition of the Critique of Practical Reason, the second of Kant's three famous "critiques." It was first published in 1788, also in Riga. By all indications, Kant did not contribute in any way to the new editions of the work. This edition was supposed to be ready for the 1790 Easter fair; however, it was actually published bearing the year 1792. This second edition was followed in 1797 not by a third, but by a fourth; to date, no trace of a third edition has been found. It is presumed that the publisher designated the actual third edition as the fourth, since the second edition (according to X 71) was printed right away in 2,000 copies (instead of the usual 1,000). Kant did not collaborate on this edition either. A fifth edition appeared in 1818, and a sixth in 1827. Reprints were published in Frankfurt and Leipzig in 1791 and 1795, and in Grätz in 1796.
